Course Reserve Planning for Winter/Spring 2026

Course Reserve Planning for Summer/Fall 2025

The Library Course Reserve team is now accepting Winter and Spring 2026 course reserve requests.

Key Updates for Winter/Spring 2026

  1. Staff are available during reduced operating hours to answer your questions M-F, 8am-5pm (December 15-23 and January 5-16).
    1. Call (916) 278-6708 or email lib-reserve@csus.edu
  2. Provide personal copies when possible for physical books. Monograph purchasing is limited due to budget constraints.
  3. Due to high costs, we can no longer license streaming media through Swank, which holds exclusive academic streaming rights to many feature films. We will continue to license streaming media through other vendors, including Kanopy, and can purchase a DVD if streaming is unavailable.

Faculty Action Items

  • Submit requests early. Our team works year-round! Early submissions ensure materials are ready on the first day of instruction. Submit Requests here: Course Reserve Request Form
  • Verify all links to eBooks, streaming media and other electronic resources. This FAQ will guide you in locating the license expiration for streaming media.
  • Faculty interested in replacing a textbook with OER or other low cost alternatives can lean more through the Library's OER program.

Why This Matters

Submitting reserve requests early helps ensure that materials are ready on the first day of class, especially given our primary book vendor’s current inability to process rush orders. When our team can process requests before the semester begins, students benefit from immediate access to course materials, supporting their academic success from day one.
