The University Library Data | Technology Lab exists to:

  • Support faculty in learning data analytics, artificial intelligence, and data visualization tools for research and teaching
  • Provide hands-on training for implementing these technologies within specific disciplines
  • Assist faculty in developing technology-enhanced course materials and classroom activities
  • Foster an interdisciplinary community of data practitioners across campus

Software

Data Analysis and Visualization Tools:

  • Adobe Creative Cloud - a suite of software with a variety of visual and data management functions
  • Anaconda - work in Python with a focus on data science tools
  • MatLab - industry standard software for science, engineering and math. It allows for coding and arranging data and algorithms visually, rather than on a traditional spreadsheet
  • NVivo - analyze qualitative data
  • Open Refine - clean and manipulate data
  • QGIS - view and analyze GIS information and create maps and visualizations with it
  • Qualtrics - solution for creating and managing advanced survey instruments, distributions, data storage and analysis
  • R - open source software package for data analysis and visualization
  • SPSS - statistical package for analyzing and visualizing data and text
  • Stata MP - statistical package for data management, analysis, and graphics
  • Tableau - create interactive visualizations and information dashboards
  • Visual Studio Code - edit and debug codes in a variety of languages
