99 nights in logar

The Friends of the University Library are proud to host “made at Sac State” author Jamil Jan Kochai for a special conclusion to the spring 2023 Charles Martell Author Lecture Series. His debut novel, 99 Nights in Logar, was a finalist for the Pen/Hemingway Award for Debut Novel and the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature. 99 Nights in Logar is a witty and tender coming-of-age journey of a twelve-year-old boy in contemporary Afghanistan.

Kochai has been referred to as “a once-in-a-generation talent” by author Karan Mahajan and “a thrillingly gifted writer” by Claire Messud of Harper’s Magazine.
