A new exhibit is now on view in the Gerth Special Collections and University Archives that features the work of Sacramento artist and commercial designer Frank Carson. Carson was best known for his work with Tower Records, where he designed their annual calendars and many rock ānā roll posters. Along with Mitch Aronson, he created the mural that was restored in 2018 on K Street above the entrance to what is now Solomon's restaurant.
The exhibit focuses on his artistic process and the way his work developed to fit changing design aesthetics through time. It will be on display in the Reading Room at the Gerth Special Collections and University Archive from June to October 2022. It is free and open to staff, students, and the public from 9 a.m. to 5p.m. Monday through Friday.
