New Exhibit at the University Library

New Exhibit at the University Library

This spring, the Gerth Special Collections & University Archives will open a new exhibit highlighting material from the Peter Shattuck Library on Colonial and Revolutionary America.

Sarah Allison, Head of the Special Collections & University Archives department, collaborated with the Shattuck endowed chair, Professor Antonio T. Bly, to develop a reading room exhibit in conjunction with the Shattuck Colonial American History Symposium.

The symposium will take place from March 18th through March 20th, 2026. This bi-annual forum will explore the colonial and revolutionary history of America. Hosted by the Department of History at Sac State and the Peter H. Shattuck Endowment, and to celebration the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the aim of the symposium is to encourage reflection, discourse, and critical thinking about the past, the Declaration of Independence, its meaning, its history, and its legacy by bringing together historians, scholars, and students in meaningful discussions.

The Shattuck Symposium is free. Students, Staff, and Faculty are welcome to participate. For more information and the symposium schedule, please contact Mrs. Vicenza Weeks at moscariello@csus.edu.

The Donald & Beverly Gerth Special Collections & University Archives reading room exhibit will open during the symposium on March 18th at 12 pm and run through the rest of 2026.
