Author Lecture: Sasha Abramsky

The Friends of the University Library are excited to welcome acclaimed journalist and political commentator Sasha Abramsky back to the Charles Martell Author Lecture Series for a powerful discussion on his timely works Chaos Comes Calling and American Carnage.

Join us as Abramsky unpacks the urgent political forces shaping the nation from rising extremism in small communities, to the sweeping federal cuts that reshaped vital government agencies.

Chaos Comes Calling: The Battle Against the Far-Right Takeover of Small-Town America

Abramsky investigates how far‑right movements have infiltrated local governments in places like Shasta County, CA, and Sequim, WA, testing the strength of democratic institutions in communities across the country.

American Carnage: How Trump, Musk and DOGE Butchered the US Government

His newest release follows 11 federal employees across 8 agencies who were terminated during massive cuts in the early days of Donald Trump’s second presidential administration. Abramsky reveals the profound human, institutional, and national consequences of these actions.
