SERVICES FOR THE DISABLED

The Library offers certain services for people with disabilities. See Resource Guide for Users With Disabilities at: http://library.csus.edu/content2.asp?pageID=62

RENEWALS

Unlimited online & in-person renewals at the Circulation Desk are available for all current patrons with the following exceptions: 1) for patrons with semester loan periods, 2) if an item is recalled (all items are subject to early recall), 3) if items are 45 or more days overdue, 4) for accounts with fees of $10 or more, 5) for accounts with other blocks. NOTE: Items may not be renewed by mail, lists, or over the telephone.

HOLDS AND RECALLS

In-person and online hold requests may be placed by Faculty, Staff, and Students of CSUS. An item is recalled when a hold is placed. Items placed on hold are then recalled by the Circulation Department. If a hold has been placed on an item checked out to you, you will be notified of the new due date by email, or by postal service if your email is not on file. When a recalled item is returned, we will notify the person who placed the hold, and the item will be held for pickup at the Circulation Desk for two weeks. You may view your patron account to determine the due date or if the item is ready for pickup.

SUSPENSIONS AND FEES

Items are due on the due date & due dates may change. To avoid overdue fees & other account blocks, make sure your email & postal addresses are current & monitor your account regularly. You will receive due date reminders & other important notices if your address information is current. Fees accrue 365 days a year, even when the Library is closed. When an item is forty-four full days overdue, a bill of $70.00 accrues (cost of item: $50, processing fee: $10, overdue fee: $10). All accounts not paid within 30 days of billing are sent to Campus Billing for collections. These accounts may result in additional fees due to collection costs. UCD & other CSU students will have home campus Academic Holds placed against them. Borrowing privileges will be restored when the overdue materials are returned and the fees are paid. Important: Non-receipt of overdue and billing notices, or distance from the campus, do not mitigate overdue fees due to failure to return items by the assigned or re-assigned due date.

If an item checked out to you is recalled, you will be notified by mail of the new due date. If the item is not returned before or on the new due date, a $10 overdue fee will be assessed. Items may be recalled at any time, so borrowers who will be away from their mailing address for more than one week should, before leaving, return all items, or make arrangements to ensure their prompt return. Patrons should be aware that all notices are to be considered a courtesy only. Non-receipt of notices therefore does not mitigate overdue fees.

It is your responsibility to monitor your due dates by viewing the My Library Accounts > My EUREKA option on the Library website. The Circulation Department should be notified of any long term or permanent change of your email & postal addresses.

PAYMENT OPTIONS: 1) Pay at the Circulation Desk in the Library. See the Schedule of Hours (on the Library website or handout) for current cashiering hours. 2) Pay by mail. Phone 278-6708 for instructions.

ITEM REPLACEMENT OPTIONS (contact Circulation Department before selecting from options listed below, 278-6708)

1) Pay $50 set price item cost. 2) Pay Books In Print price (excluding certain items). 3) Provide replacement item (Library authorization required). Note: All options also require a $10 processing fee, & a $10 overdue fee for items 44 full days overdue. Both fees are non-refundable.

Theft or damage to Library items are subject to prosecution by provision of the California Education Code.

BOOK RETURNS

The Library Book Return is located near the Circulation Desk on the Main Floor. When the Library is closed, items may be returned in the After Hours Book Return located directly south of the Main Entrance doors. In addition, there is a 24-hour Drive-up Book Return located at the corner of Sinclair and Moraga, just past the tennis courts. Items checked out from the Reserve Book Room must be returned to the Reserve Book Room returns (outside drop available all hours) and not to the main Library Book Return. Library Media Center items must be returned to the Media Center (if open).

BUILDING RESTRICTIONS

Use of bicycles, roller-skates, rollerblades, skateboards, and tobacco in any form, is not allowed in the Library. Pets, with the exception of aids to persons with disabilities, are not allowed in the Library. Current food and drink restrictions and the cell phone policy are posted at the Main Entrance. In Silent Study Areas talking, cell phone use, & other noise are not permitted.

ACCESSING YOUR LIBRARY ACCOUNT

In order to DISPLAY your Library record, RENEW items online, or PLACE HOLDS on checked out items, you must have a current EUREKA account.  If you find that your name is not in the EUREKA database, inquire at the Circulation Desk.  The DISPLAY & RENEW functions are accessed through your My EUREKA Account in EUREKA, the online Library catalog.  EUREKA is available at any Library RESEARCH station, campus computer lab, or off campus through the Library Homepage at http://library.csus.edu .
Students, Faculty, and Staff (OneCard holders) must use their SacLink Username & Password.  Non-affiliated patrons must use the last 9 numbers of their Library Card barcode as their Username & create a LIBRARY PIN (Personal Identification Number).  If your email address is on file you may create a new LIBRARY PIN online by selecting the ‘Forgot your pin?’ option.  If your email is not on file, go to the Circulation Desk or call (916) 278-6708.

It is your responsibility to keep track of due dates. Avoid overdue fees by monitoring your account regularly.

To Place or Cancel A Hold:

If during a EUREKA search you find an item with a DUE DATE in the STATUS box, you may place a hold on it if your Library account is current with no blocks, no items 45 or more days overdue, & no fees of $10.00 or more.

To Place A Hold (available only to Sac State Students, Faculty, & Staff):

  • Log in to your My Eureka account.
  • In the SEARCH box, enter title, author, etc, & select SEARCH.
  • If a due date shows at the bottom of the page, select Place Hold at the top.
  • Complete REQUEST VERIFICATION page, if necessary, & select SUBMIT.
  • At next page select REQUEST SELECTED ITEM.
  • The next page will verify your request & show a due date.  This due date will probably change to allow time for return of the item (10 to 21 days), so always view your account later for current due dates.
  • Always be sure to LOG OUT.
  • If your current email is on file you will be notified by email when the item is returned (U.S. Mail otherwise).  You may also view your account to verify item status.

If the STATUS displays REQUEST WAS SUCCESSFUL the hold is placed.  The original borrower is notified of the new due date (at least 10 but no more than 21 days from the date the hold is placed).  When the item is returned, its EUREKA status will be changed to HELD AT CIRC for 14 days.

Please note: The request will not immediately show on your account.  It is not necessary to resubmit the request.

To Cancel A Hold:

  • Log in to your Library account.
  • Select the PREFERRED SEARCHES option.
  • At next page select REQUESTS.
  • Check item box under CANCEL & then select CANCEL SELECTED.
  • NO HOLDS FOUND will now show at bottom of page.
  • Always be sure to LOG OUT.
