The California State University Sacramento Library maintains an extensive collection of children's books on Floor 2-South. The Juvenile Literature collection is divided into the following sections: Juvenile Reference, which includes non-circulating copies of Newbery, Caldecott, and California Young Reader Medal books, Easy Readers, Picture Books, Fiction, and Nonfiction.
The purpose of this collection is twofold: to support coursework in the teacher credential programs, and to support courses in the English Department. The Juvenile collection development is based upon quality, K-12 curriculum requirements, and faculty request. Nonfiction materials are arranged by Dewey Decimal classification and fiction materials are arranged alphabetically by author.
