Tsakopoulos Hellenic Collection
Library Research Grant, 2008-2009
The University Library is pleased to offer a Library Research Grant to support the use of the Tsakopoulos Hellenic Collection for scholarly research while in residence in Sacramento. The Grant provides up to $3,000 to help offset transportation and living expenses incurred during the tenure of the award and is open to researchers from outside institutions at the graduate through senior scholar levels working in fields encompassed by the Collection’s strengths.
The term of the Grant is anticipated to be approximately one month and will be tenable from May 2008-April 2009. The application deadline is February 29, 2008.
Paper applications will not be accepted. Applicants must submit completed application/budget, a résumé/CV, and a research proposal of up to three pages, including plans for disseminating this research, using the on-line form. They must also arrange for two confidential letters of recommendation to be sent directly to the Library Research Grant Committee at the address below.
Proposals should cite the relevance of specific resources found in the Tsakopoulos Hellenic Collection to their research. Prospective grantees are urged to consult the Web site of the Tsakopoulos Hellenic Collection (http://library.csus.edu/tsakopoulos/) and EUREKA, the Library’s on-line catalog (http://eureka.lib.csus.edu/), for detailed holdings information as they prepare their proposals.
The Library Research Grant Committee will consist of members of the instructional faculty, library faculty, and Friends of the Library. The Grant will be awarded on the basis of the relevance of the proposal to the holdings of the Tsakopoulos Hellenic Collection, applicants’ qualifications, and significance of the proposal. Awards will be announced by April 1, 2008. The Grant recipient will be expected to give a presentation on his/her research project before leaving Sacramento.
The Grant has been made possible with funding from the Friends of the CSUS Library and the University Library.
Please have letters of recommendation mailed to Library Research Grant Committee c/o Tsakopoulos Hellenic Collection, University Library, California State University, Sacramento, 2000 State University Drive East, Sacramento, CA 95819-6039.
