SpringerLink

By Leilani Hall, Science and Technology Librarian

SpringerLink is an electronic journals resource from Springer for researchers in biomedicine, life science, clinical medicine, physics, engineering, mathematics, computer science, humanities, and economics. Besides Springer-Verlag, other publishers included in the database are Kluwer Academic, Brill, and Maik Nauka which publish a wide variety of scholarly journals such as:

American Journal of Dance Therapy
Applied Biochemistry and Microbiology
Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders
Journal of Business Ethics
Religion and the Arts
Research in Higher Education
Review of World Economics

To fund our access to over 1100 full text journals (from 1997 – present) we canceled our print and microform subscriptions to 50 of the titles. This is another one of the offers negotiated by the Chancellor’s Office for all CSU libraries.

There is a basic search option as well as advanced search capabilities by author, publication, and words in the title, abstract, or full text. Results can be displayed by relevance or date. Results can be marked and saved but there is no email function. The “eyeglasses” [ ] icon indicates the articles are full text.

While I wish more thought had gone into the search screen, to make it look and behave more like the other databases to which we provide access, the strength of this scholarly collection of journals makes it worth having.

Journals in the SpringerLink database are also fully cataloged in EUREKA, the online catalog for the Library. Links are provided from EUREKA to the online full text.
