Library Adds New Full Text Education Database

By Betty Ronayne and Roz Van Auker, Education Reference Librarians

Regular users of the Library’s database list will have noticed a new addition this year. Education Full Text was added recently in order to strengthen journal holdings and indexing capability in Education and related fields.

Even Luddites will love Education Full Text. Using the familiar H.W. Wilson interface, it provides cover-to-cover indexing and abstracts of more than 670 English language periodicals back to 1983 in all areas of education. The best news is that full text of journal articles back to 1996 is provided for more than 300 journals – and growing. Full text for 49 new titles was just added. Approximately 100 of the full-text journals are unique to Sacramento State, previously unavailable in any format or available only in microform. Education Full Text represents a significant increase in access as well as content.

Students will appreciate the ability to limit their searches to peer reviewed articles and the currency of the database which is updated daily. Other features include a subject thesaurus with up-to-date terminology, seamless links to full text, options for bibliographic formatting, and the capability to search other Wilson databases simultaneously, for example Social Sciences Full Text.

Like most of the Library’s subscription databases, Education Full Text is accessible from off-campus using SacLink authentication. Please contact Betty Ronayne or Roz Van Auker if you have questions about this database.
