Dissertations and Theses

By Leilani Hall, Science and Technology Librarian

Dissertations and Theses, a ProQuest database, is new to our Library. We have replaced the print indexes, Dissertations Abstracts International, Comprehensive Dissertation Index, and Masters Abstracts International, with this electronic access.

According to the ProQuest web site:

With more than 2 million entries, PQD&T is the single, central, authoritative resource for information about doctoral dissertations and master's theses. Dissertations published from 1980 forward include 350- word abstracts written by the author. Master's theses published from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts. Titles available as native or image PDF formats include free twenty-four page previews. UMI offers over 1.8 million titles for purchase in microform, paper or electronic formats.

The database can be searched by author, location and granting institution, subject, and advisor as well as several other options. You can get to it from the Library’s homepage, http://library.csus.edu, by choosing Database and Article Searching and opening up the DPI page. It’s in the “D”s in the alphabetical list on the right.

Here’s the link so you can go right to it and check your name.

If you have any questions, contact your subject librarian.
