Happening? An Update by the Library Employee Committee
By Julie Thomas, Chair, Library Employee Committee
The past few months have been ones of celebration and rebirth. The library celebrated the arrival of Diana Winckel as the new Serials Unit Head and the speedy return of Jennifer Ware, Kim Kuenlen and Jim Summerfield after their surgeries. Although we were saddened to lose Carol Bowyer as a member of our committee last fall, we celebrated when Lillie Jones volunteered to fill her spot.
The rebirth we speak of refers to our very own committee. Six month ago, we ceased to be an “association” and converted to a committee. As part of that metamorphosis, Dean Webb asked the LEC to draft a Committee Charge as well as rethink what we do and how we are funded. As you’ve all experienced in one small way or another, we are trying new things and tossing out new ideas. Here’s a recap of some of the LEC activities from the past six months:
We would greatly appreciate all employees’ input, suggestions,
and ideas about new ways of doing old things, namely creating a great working
environment. Please feel free to contact any member of the LEC with your comments:
Anne Bradley and Hong Wang in the Reference Department, Pairlee Berry in the
Systems Department, Lillie Jones in Administration, Lorraine Saiz in Acquisitions
(Serials Unit), and Julie Thomas in Special Collections & University Archives.
