Special Olympics Walk and Fundraising
By Kerry Ryan, Library Administration

On October 30, I'm going to make a difference in the lives of some very special people and I'll Walk for the Gold® to do it!
Walk for the Gold® is a premier fundraiser for Special Olympics Northern California and I'll be joining hundreds of other people to help raise money for this wonderful organization. I'm asking family, friends and co-workers to make a monetary pledge on my behalf. Can I count on you to help?

Special Olympics provides year round sports training and competition opportunities for children and adults with developmental disabilities. But it is so much more than a sports program. It is training for life, empowering these individuals with self-confidence and self-esteem that carries over into their every day lives. What is most amazing is that Special Olympics is free to all for over 14,000 Special Olympics athletes in Northern California! It costs approximately $500 to support one athlete's participation in Special Olympics for an entire year.

The opportunities Special Olympics provides to people with developmental disabilities is truly commendable which is why I want to show my support by being a part of the Walk for the Gold®. The funds raised will go a long way to insure that Special Olympics continues to enrich the lives of developmentally disabled children and adults in our community for many years to come. Thank you so much for your support. Together, we can make a difference!
