JUVENILE: CALDECOTT MEDAL AWARD BOOKS

The Caldecott Medal, established in 1938, is presented annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to honor the illustrator of the most distinguished American picture book for children published during the preceding year. The award is named for Randolph Caldecott (1846-1886), English artist and illustrator.

Additional information about the award is available at the Caldecott Medal Home Page. Transcripts of the winning illustrator's Caldecott Medal acceptance speech appear in each year's July/August issue of Horn Book Magazine. (Also available full text online in Academic Search Premier (Ebsco)

Listed below by illustrator are the Caldecott Medal winning books; authors other than illustrators are noted. These books are available for loan in the picture book or non-fiction section of the Juvenile Collection on Floor 2 South.
