Food and Drink Policy

PLEASE HELP US PRESERVE THE LIBRARY AND COLLECTIONS FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS

  • Consumption of food in the Library is prohibited EXCEPT in the Library Collaborative adjacent to Java City.
  • Bottled water in screw top containers is permitted throughout the Library. All other beverages must be in spill resistant containers such as travel mugs. No other drink containers are allowed.
Note: disposable cardboard and plastic cups are not spill proof and are not permitted.
  • Please keep any food intended for later consumption in your backpack, purse, etc.
  • Non-compliance will result in a request to remove/discard the food or leave the Library. Refusal may result in suspension of library privileges and/or academic discipline.

Rationale: We strive to provide an environment that preserves our collections and equipment, maintains a pest-free building and damage-free furnishings, reduces litter, and ensures a cleaner environment for studying and working. We recognize the need of Library users to remain hydrated while working for long periods in the Library.
