More
than 200 Students Needed for ETS/ICT Testing
By Linda J. Goff, Library Instruction
On
January 11th, Fred Batt and I attended a Chancellor’s Office meeting
at LAX where we got our assignments related to the new Educational Testing
Service (ETS) Information and Communication Technology Literacy (ICT)
large scale assessment project. We were told that Sacramento needed to
recruit 203 students to take the test before the March 31st deadline.
The CSU is one of the primary partners of ETS in developing and testing
this new assessment measure that is specifically designed for the higher
education environment as a comprehensive test of ICT proficiency. The
CSU has committed to test 3,000 CSU students during February and March.

Feeling
Good at a MVLS Administrative Council Meeting
By Fred Batt, Library Administration I
thought I was off the hook.
The meeting
was running late. I wanted to get back to CSUS and the always-persistent
pile of work on my desk. My Reference Committee Report was the last agenda
item and I was ready to fly out the door the second that I finished. see

Exhibits:
Past, Present, and Future
By Carol Gebel, Chair, Library Exhibits Committee
The walls are decked with exhibits! Do take a look at Phenomenal Women
on the third floor; it’s part of a student project and will be departing
at the end of March. The first floor walls display Watercolors by former
Library Dean Charles Martell. If the birds look familiar that is because
they are his renditions of plates that John James Audubon created while
exploring North America. Can you identify the birds without reading the
captions? see

Library
Employees Come Through Again
By
Anne Bradley, Reference
The
Library Employee Committee would like to thank all the library employees
who helped to make the March 17th white elephant silent auction
a smashing success. Thanks to some terrific donations and very enthusiastic
bidding the event brought in over $275. Employees enjoyed cookies
and beverages as they searched for hidden treasures and planned
their bidding strategies. Some of the most highly sought after items
included an ALA “Read” poster featuring Ruben Blades,
a shamrock tea set, a flower pot, and a set of globe book ends.
After a frenzy of last-minute activity, many happy bidders took
home some fine new swag.
New

| What's
Happening? An Update by the Library Employee Committee
By Julie
Thomas, Chair, Library Employee Committee
The
past few months have been ones of celebration and rebirth. The library
celebrated the arrival of Diana Winckel as the new Serials Unit Head and
the speedy return of Jennifer Ware, Kim Kuenlen and Jim Summerfield after
their surgeries. Although we were saddened to lose Carol Bowyer as a member
of our committee last fall, we celebrated when Lillie Jones volunteered
to fill her spot. see
