What is Electronic Reserves (E-Reserves)?
Electronic reserve items are available via the Internet to CSUS students, faculty, and staff only. Through (E-Reserves), they may have 24-hour access to materials placed on reserve by an instructor(s). Copyrighted and noncopyrighted materials placed on E-Reserves may include journal articles, book chapters, links to CSUS full-text database articles, exams, homework solutions, sample papers, course syllabi, reading lists, lecture notes, examinations, problem sets, etc., Electronic materials may be viewed, printed, or downloaded. Only the items that state ELECTRONIC COPY AVAILABLE can be viewed, printed or downloaded. Materials are processed electronically and placed in the EUREKA library database. You no longer need to wait in line at the User Services Desk. You may access materials from your computer at home, in the library or in the computer labs. To access these materials from home, you must have a Web browser such as Firefox, Microsoft Explorer, etc. Students are advised that they may make no more than one photocopy for personal educational use of items in E-Reserves. No further electronic reproduction is possible.

What is the advantage of placing materials on E-Reserves?
Electronic Reserves reduces the wear, tear, and loss of materials in the traditional paper format. It enables several users to simultaneously view items and it reduces the delays experienced by students waiting for the replacement of lost or damaged items.
What do I need to access E-Reserves?

Minimal Hardware Requirements:
- Pentium PC or equivalent Macintosh with a 56K modem.
- 16 megabytes of RAM
- Saclink account connected to the Internet or independent Internet provider
Minimum Software Requirements:
- Microsoft Windows ME or higher
- Internet browser (Netscape 8 or higher, Microsoft Explorer 5.0 or higher)
- Adobe Acrobat software
- Power Point software
How do I view, print or save E-Reserves items?
Connect to the EUREKA CSUS LIBRARY CATALOG through your SacLink account or independent Internet provider (e.g., AOL). Select [My EUREKA Account] to authenticate yourself. Enter your SacLink Username, SacLink Password, and select [Log In]. Visit the SacLink Website if you need to register for a SacLink Account.
Under Course Reserves, Select [Course Search], or [Instructor Search] in order to access Course Reserve Materials. Type-in your entry. Only the items that list ELECTRONIC COPY AVAILABLE under Format are available as E-Reserves Materials. If you wish to view or print E-Reserves Materials, select the item that states ELECTRONIC COPY AVAILABLE by clicking on its Title. Select the article that you wish to view or print. Your document should appear. You should now be able to print, save, email, etc., the document utilizing the tool bar found just above the document by utilizing the tool bar found just above the document. Most documents are scanned as PDF files.
For documents other than PDFs, such as Power Point, Excel, and Word documents, you will be asked to download the files. After downloading the file, you will be asked to open or save the file. If you choose to open the file, your document will appear. Go to the tool bar, select file, and print or save as you would with any file.
To Print from the PCs located next to the User Services Desk:
Send your print job as you normally would from your computer workstation by clicking, OK. A “PHAROS Popup Client” dialog box will appear on your screen. Type in an easy-to-remember password and click OK. Remember your station number and your password.
Also be sure to LOG OUT of Computer Station.
Go to the nearest PrintSmart (Printer Station). Swipe your OneCard left or right on top of the release station, magnetic stripe down and facing you. Look for your Computer Station Number (for example, RBR 101) under “Owner.” Print jobs will be listed in alphabetical/numerical order. Click once on your job. The number of sheets and cost will appear in the lower left of the screen. Be sure the page count shown matches what you expect. No refunds are given for blank or unwanted pages.
The balance of your account(s) will appear in the lower middle of the screen. If you have a balance in your PrintSmart account, it will deduct the charge from that account first. When you click on “Print” the “Protected Job Password” dialog box will appear. Enter your password exactly as you typed it at your workstation and click “OK.” Your print job will be printed and “Command successful” will appear in the lower left. Be certain to “EXIT” before you walk away! Pick up your print jobs at the adjacent printer.
