New Editor & Co-Editor Sought for F2F

After two years overseeing the reincarnation and transformation of the Floor 2 Floor to an electronic format I have submitted my request to end my tenure as editor to our Dean. Reluctantly he took my request and we are in search for a new editor and co-editor.

The work for the Floor 2 Floor is not much once you get a pattern going but it is a monthly commitment. Writing is minimal. It is the outreach that is essential. So, people skills along with some basic technological skills are important. I hope that whatever I have accomplished will evolve into something better.

Interested persons are welcomed to contact Terry. Laura and I are available for questions regarding the work and process.

Thank you all for having contributed to this newsletter. I am grateful to Laura for her editing work and to Andy Osburn (and to the rest of Systems when Andy is not available) in times of technological failures. - ed

Exhibits: What's Your Passion
By Carol Gebel, Exhibit Committee Chair

The CSUS Women’s Studies Program will extend their exhibit on the first floor until the end of January. If you haven’t stopped by to see the results of Vicki Hall’s efforts, you still have time. For some of us, the artifacts from The First Decade: the 60s is a déjà vu experience.

An exhibit for Black Heritage Month (February) is being planned. It will be on display before the next Floor 2 Floor is published. Do stop by and take a look.

WHAT IS YOUR PASSION? WHAT DO YOU LOVE DOING? The exhibits committee is looking for exhibits for the spring semester. Now that the renovation of the cases has begun we hope you will consider putting up an exhibit on a topic of interest to you. It is sure to be of interest to others also. We have acquired a good selection of props to display books and placards that will make the installation easier. Assistance with the glass boxes (installing, removing) can be arranged with an exhibit committee member. Contact Maria Kochis with your ideas!

Assistant Editor: Laura Archbold

Tour Leaders Needed - Sign Up Now!
By Linda Goff, Head, Instructional Services

From January 30 through February 10, 2006 the Library will be once again offering guided tours for all students, faculty, and staff members interested in finding out about our services and how to get around the building. This is a wonderful opportunity to interact with students and help them identify key service points and facts about the Sac State Library. Are you new to the Library? Never given a tour? Or maybe you would like to brush up on your tour skills? I can send you the Checkpoint Tour script and a list of tour leader tips. On average tours run about 30 minutes but it is dependent on your pace. Click here for the tour schedule. You can sign up to give tours by contacting Tana Symons, email or 278-5822. It only happens once a semester, so get involved!

Announcement: On Nov. 5 George Paganelis presented a paper entitled “Creating an Index for Modern Greek Studies” at the Modern Greek Studies Symposium in Chicago, which he is currently revising for publication in the Journal of Modern Greek Studies.
