Self Study: Credit Where it is Due
By Terry Webb, Library Administration

A few days ago, Ben Amata reminded me that the Library continues to receive high praise from the Academic Affairs office for our Self-Study and the Program Review. Our approach to the project was original, productive, and thought-provoking. In addition to describing the Library in the terminology of teaching and learning, and demonstrating that Library employees are bona fide educators, the Self-Study also opened the door to assessment methods that could change the way academic libraries measure their effectiveness. see story

Exhibits: Past, Present and Future
By Carol Gebel, Library Exhibits Committee

The Exhibits Committee has more good news to announce: a second set of display cases has been renovated. The side-by-side cases on the mezzanine are now outfitted with sliding glass doors instead of the old, heavy and dangerous doors that lifted up.

The first exhibit to make use of the cases is the CSUS Geography Club. Their exhibit highlights Geography Awareness Week (Nov. 13 through Nov. 19). The display includes one case on the first floor and will be on view until the end of the fall semester. see story

JAAC Volunteers Honored
By Linda Goff, Library Instruction

At the October 25, 2005 meeting of the Japanese American Archival Collection Advisory Board two of our most faithful volunteers, Fusa Yamamoto and Reiko Nagumo were honored for their long-term service in support of the JAAC with plaques and traditional Daruma dolls. The filled-in eye on the doll indicates a goal accomplished, while the blank eye indicates there are still other goals to set. see story

Holiday Happenings with LEC

The Library Employee Committee would like to thank all the wonderful bakers who contributed goodies as well as the generous individuals who purchased treats at this year’s Halloween Bake Sale. We collected just over $200 which be used for the Library holiday party in December.

LEC is busily planning another great holiday bash for the library. The date has been set for December 8 th which is a bit earlier than usual. But we just want to make sure that our student workers, as many as possible, can attend.

Check your email for more details in the coming weeks.
